  • Small Shoulder Miu Miu Bag

Posted on May 18th, 2009 bags No comments

miumiuMiu Miu Small Shoulder Bag,Do you ever look at individual pieces of a whole, love them, but hate the whole? It happens to me all the time. How many meals have you eaten where the ingredients sound amazing but when you mush them all together you automatically raise your napkin to your mouth and attempt to do the very obvious unflattering ‘polite spit’? At least when it happens with a handbag you know what you are getting into, unlike the random meal you ate. The aspects of the Miu Miu Small Shoulder Bag are appealing individually, but put them all together and you have a tacky fug bag. First there is stunning luscious turquoise leather. The color just pops and is perfect for spring and summer. The slouch of the leather shows the buttery soft quality which makes me want to smoosh it up to my face and fall asleep on it. The gold hardware really pops. The handle features clasps on either side which give a nice addition. But then there is the finished product, which looks fit for a 12 year old. Not that there is something wrong with a 12 year old, but there is something so tacky and juvenile about this bag. Sure, it is said to be a small shoulder bag, but it is too small for my liking. It looks ridiculous on the model, which means it will look atrocious on a ‘real size’ person. The depth is a mere 2″, while the width is 11″ and height is 10″; which looks squished, flat, and weird. Granted, I am 5′10 so I see things differently, but if you are over 5′3, putting a shoulder bag on this small won’t look good. Then there is the gold hardware on the turquoise leather; it screams out gaudy. Something about turquoise and gold do not mesh, they are both overpowering and they are fighting for the spotlight on this bag. End result is an in-your-face combination. I love the color, love the leather, love the idea, but am not feeling the finished product at all.

  • Washed Leather Tote Miu Miu

20071028135350Miu Miu Washed Leather Tote,The subtle rose hue on this handbag makes it drop-dead gorgeous. Adding a pastel accessory to your wardrobe offers the perfect hint of color which adds the perfect feminine touch to a daytime outfit. The Miu Miu Washed Leather Tote adds a touch of rose coloring which is accented with gold hardware. There is a zip fastening across the top and the shape curves at the top. Dimensions of this bag are large, which makes it a perfect work bag option. Because the leather is so light in color, you will have to be careful of getting it dirty (the feet on the base help keep the bottom clean). I would have loved this bag even more if the inside were lined in suede, but the black cotton lining still gets the job done. This is a very ladylike Miu Miu bag, and in no way alludes to this line being a young and less-refined sister to Prada.

  • Bow MIUMIU Bag

Posted on May 18th, 2009 bags No comments

Miu Miu’s Bow Bag,I spend so much of my time looking at, contemplating and judging handbags, that’s it’s rare that I give a bag a second look once I’ve decided that it’s not for me. I know my own taste, I know how much I’m willing to pay and for what, and I know what I’ll use enough to get my money’s worth.

Miu Miu’s Bow Bag is the exception. When I first saw it while surfing around the forum, I didn’t really pay attention – I like Miu Miu’s bags, but I’m not an enormous fan, and I’ve never owned one. At first, the Bow Bag seemed kind of plain, and I don’t use satchels often. But then, forum member Vinyl asked me to update a thread she had made dedicated to the particular Miu Miu, and because I had to look at all of the pictures of Bow Bags that she had collected for the thread, I was forced to reconsider it.

And my, my. Was I surprised at what I saw! Suddenly, the chic simplicity of the bags has won me over, and I’ve been Internet stalking them ever since. They’re relatively rare on the net, and seem to sell out before they ever come close to the sale section. The ones that Saks is currently carrying are in a shiny leather, but previous seasons have featured matte, smooth, soft-looking finishes, so there’s a lot of different Bow Bags floating around out there for your viewing (or, if you’re like me, stalking) pleasure.

  • Nappa Patch Leather Bag MIUMIU

Nappa Patch Leather Bag,Miu MiuThere is something entirely sexy about a handbag with volume. I love a bag that pops out, that can stand on its own but also accessorize beautifully. There have been other patchwork bags before, but the Miu Miu Nappa Patch Leather Bag gets it right with the stunning dimensions added from the intricate patchwork detailing. And it is no just the patchwork that I love, it is the color! The rose leather is one of those colors that can flatter almost everyone. Whether you have a deep summer tan or a light complexion, this color stands out and gives a feminine touch to your overall look. And the body leads way to the twisted shoulder strap, again perfect finishing touch on an already feminine and gorgeous handbag. The shape of this bag is perfect for everyday wear and features a zip fastening at the top and purple satin lining. I finally have found another bag that I truly adoremiu-miu-3

  • Fendi vs Miu Miu

Posted on May 17th, 2009 bags No comments

Fendi vs Miu Miu.I figured we could continue the battle of the similar designs from Friday. Why not right? The Fendi Spy Bag became a huge hit, in fact was one of the bags that catapulted the “it” bag obsession, back in 2005. You were only handbag-cool if you had a Fendi Spy Bag. The bag itself is a bit different; a large slouchy oval body, funky handles, a cool hidden compartment, a fun pocket, and a large open body. After it became the next best thing since sliced bread, Fendi went on to reinvent the Spy in a plethora of variations, materials, skins, and looks. Some were awful, some were beautiful, and the Spy is still a recognizable bag.

Then came Miu Miu, known for chic bags that resemble its older sister Prada but have a more stomachache price tag. We have been mad for Miu Miu handbags for quite some time now, loving the chic and fun styles and lines. So Miu Miu decided to take a note from the Bottega Veneta and Fendi book, pairing woven leather on a Spy like shaped bag.

The Miu Miu Woven Leather Tote is actually a favorite of mine for many reasons. The rich berry tones are perfect for fall and the woven leather shows off this soft saturated leather beautifully. The slouchy hobo body resembles the body of the Fendi Spy but does not have the fold over flap top with the cool pouch pocket and hidden lip gloss compartment. Either way, I am loving this bag. And I love the Fendi Spy Bag as its design at one time was new and the bag transforms outfits into chic ensembles pulled together by the handbag.

So what do you think of the Fendi Spy vs the Miu Miu Woven Leather Tote?

  • Patch Shoulder Bag Miu Miu

Posted on May 17th, 2009 bags No comments

Miu Miu Patch Shoulder Bag,This is yet another one of those handbags where I don’t really know where to start. At first glance, the Miu Miu Patch Shoulder Bag has just too much going on. Now, I don’t think it is quite as busy as the Bottega Veneta Woven Boston handbag Megs covered just a couple days ago, but it’s still too much for me. Sure, many fall colors are thrown into this look which means you probably have several outfits you could pair with this purse, but at the same time, the outfits would have to be rather plain. If you tried to pair this handbag with anything but a plain outfit you could come across as one of those shifty people who wears every pattern they own at once. Miu Miu did something similar with the Miu Miu Nappa Patch Leather Bag, but in this situation they kept it simple. So what do you think? Is it better than the Bottega Veneta Bag mentioned earlier or should Miu Miu have stuck with the “less is more” option found with their Nappa Patch Leather Bag? miu-miu-12

  • Diamond Leather Bag Miu Miu

Posted on May 17th, 2009 bags No comments

Miu Miu Diamond Leather Bag,There are certain colors I just can’t get enough of. Gray is one of them. With so many different shades to choose from, gray is a color that can add anything from sophistication to edginess to your outfit. When I first came across the Miu Miu Diamond Leather Bag I didn’t think I saw anything too noteworthy. At first glance, I actually thought I was looking at a clutch. Yet, as I looked a little more, I noticed a few things. First of all, this is a handbag that can be carried as a shoulder bag which comes with an adjustable shoulder strap, or used as an oversized clutch. Then I found myself pleasantly surprised with the textured leather diamond patchwork and bows on each side. Doesn’t the handbag just look so soft? I have to say, I am definitely a huge fan of the external patchwork texture and internal satin lining combination. With many gray winter days approaching, this is definitely the kind of gray I wouldn’t mind holding on to.miu-miu-21

  • Distressed Leather Hobo MIUMIU BAGS

Posted on May 17th, 2009 bags No comments

Miu Miu Distressed Leather Hobo,Ladies and gentlemen, I have posted this bag for one reason and one reason only: to demonstrate a leather-finishing effect that I truly and completely despise. Other than the quasi-shiny effect, I really like the Miu Miu Distressed Leather Hobo. The shape is good, the color is interesting and uncommon, and the handle detail is a nice, subtle touch. If it wasn’t for the infuriatingly terrible finish they put on the leather, I’d be all about this one.

Why in the world do designers EVER do this? It’s somewhere in Leather Effect Purgatory between regular and patent, and it doesn’t do a bag any favors. It mostly has one of the following effects: it makes the leather look like it’s not actually leather, it makes the leather look thin, or it makes the leather look stiff. What it almost ALWAYS does is make the bag look cheap – I see a lot of PVC bags at Target with identical finishes, and whenever I see something like this, that’s always what it brings to mind. A finish like this is also pretty much a guarantee that the bag won’t be soft to the touch. There are few things that you can do to a bag that I like less than what they’ve done to this one, and it’s a really shame – it could have been a winner
